About Alexis

BIO

Alexis Rosendo is a Christian mental health counselor. She has a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Master’s of Arts in Pastoral Counseling, both from Regent University. Her professional interests lie at the intersection of mental health wellness, ministry, and non-profit work, and she is most zealous about increasing the accessibility of mental health services for those who need it most. For Alexis, her passion and purpose is fulfilled when she is in the counseling room, and it is an honor to hold space during significant seasons of a client’s life. She is currently pre-licensed and working closely with a clinical supervisor.

Alexis is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) professional organizations. She has experience working with children, teens, college students, adults, and retirees/senior citizens over the span of mental health concerns including but not limited to clinical symptoms, relational distress, emotional disturbance and behavioral adjustment. Additionally, Alexis has worked with couples and families, providing parenting and marriage counseling and support.

Alexis is competent to work with those who are interested in integrating their personal faith with their mental health journey, but she also welcomes those who do not ascribe to any faith tradition and/or those who do not wish to integrate spirituality. Alexis comes into the counseling room with a Christian Biblical worldview that impacts how she conceptualizes mental health, but without imposing that worldview on the client. She has worked with individuals from all backgrounds, beliefs, and lifestyles and advocates for honoring the client’s autonomy and agency to do ethical, client-led and client-centered work.

Before beginning a career in professional counseling, Alexis earned a B.S. and B.A. from Xavier University of Louisiana, a Master’s of Science in Non-profit Administration from Louisiana State University, and was active in ministry and non-profit work. While living in New Orleans, LA, Alexis founded an after-school mentoring program for girls and served for 10 years in her local ministry. For 4 years, she served as a licensed minister, fulfilling roles in young adult ministry, evangelism, and outreach. It was within these roles that Alexis began a love for examining how the mental and emotional condition both reflects and influences one’s life journey. She is continually seeking new ways to combine her love for mental health counseling with her passions for ministry, leadership, and community-based efforts.

Alexis currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA. She is happily married to her loving and supportive husband, Colton, with whom she shares a son and daughter. Alexis is active in her local church where volunteers her time and co-leads a small group bible study. When she is not counseling, Alexis fills her cup by spending quality time with her family, reading, going out for a jog, and learning how to garden.
